Course Rules & Local Rules

OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27)
–
On or over the Wall left of the 1st / 10th and 2nd / 11th Holes. NOTE Any ball touching the wall, but not over is in play – play as it lies.
In the archway under the Railway, beside and to the left of the 1st / 10th holes.
On or beyond the line defined by the outside point of the furthest line of Trees nearest the river.
On or beyond the line defined by the White Marker Posts on any part of the Course.NOTE The white Marker Posts are not, in themselves, within the boundaries of the Course – relief from these may not be taken and the posts themselves cannot be moved. (Rule 13.2)
On or over the Bridge approaching the 18th Green.
On or over the Pathway to the left and running around the rear of the 18th Green.
PENALTY LINE
–
While playing the 4th / 13th Holes, any drive landing on or beyond the 5th / 14th Fairway and stopping within the Penalty Line marked with red and white posts – a maximum penalty of one stroke must be added to the score for that hole. Continue to play as it lies.
WATER HAZARD & LATERAL WATER HAZARD (Rule 26)
When playing the 18th Hole, the Burn in front and to the right of the Green is a WATER HAZARD – Yellow Stakes.
When playing any other Hole, the Burn is a LATERAL WATER HAZARD – Red Stakes.
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24.2)

Any Man-Made, Constructed, Tarmac or Stone Pathways within the Boundaries of the Course.
NOTE – excluding walkways to the left of the 1st / 10th and 2nd / 11th Holes and within the Avenue of trees beside the River. These Walkways are an integral part of the Course.
Staked Trees, Trees with Rabbit Guards. Trees below 8 feet in height and/or Trees whose trunk diameter is less than 3 inches. G.U.R. Rules apply – relief MUST be taken.
Sprinkler Heads, Drainage Covers, all parts of the Irrigation System, Course Signage, Fixed Posts, Fairway Distance Markers, Tee markers and all Marker Posts within the Boundaries of the Course.NOTE – Fairway Marker Posts may be treated as MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS – if practicable.
The wrong Hole when playing the 7th / 16th Green.
Any Hole forming part of a Temporary/Winter Green – when not in play.

Stones in bunkers.
The wrong Hole when playing the 7th / 16th Green.
Fairway Marker Posts – if practicable. Otherwise as above (IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS)
Tee-Box Litter Bins – if practicable. Otherwise as above (IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS)
GROUND UNDER REPAIR – G.U.R. (Rule 25)
All areas on any part of the Course with White Lines and/or G.U.R. Signs.
Tee-Boxes (except Tee-Box in use) in General Play. NOTE – Official Club Competitions – Play as the ball lies.
Dog faeces may be treated as G.U.R. if a ball is on the faeces or if the faeces interferes with the stance.
Balls landing in dog scuffings in bunkers may be picked up, the bunker raked and the ball rolled into the bunker on a similar line from 4 paces away
G.U.R. relief MUST be taken – Play from G.U.R. areas is prohibited.
FAIRWAY DISTANCE MARKERS
The following Distance Markers are in use in the centre of the Fairway to the centre of the Greens on most of the Holes:
White Markers | 200 yards |
Yellow Markers | 150 yards |
Red Markers | 100 yards |
Black Marker (18th only) | 75 yards |
TEE MARKERS
White Tee-Markers – Men’s Competition Tees – Official Club Competitions only.
Red Tee-Markers – Ladies Competition Tees – Official Club Competitions only.
Yellow Tee-Markers – All General Play – Members and Visitors.
SAFETY, ORDER & SPEED OF PLAY – 1st / 10th HOLE

Players must alternate order of play between the 1st and 10th Tees – except that priority is given to those engaged in Official Club Competitions over those in General Play.
1st Tee – Bell Hole
The Bell must be sounded immediately prior to play from the 1st Tee. This provides a warning to those players engaged in play on the 3rd / 12th Fairway and Green to expect potential danger. All Players must mark their balls for identification. When reaching the Green all players should stand aside and invite waiting players on the 10th Tee to tee-off. Continue play after any waiting players have completed their tee shots.
SPEED OF PLAY & SAFETY – 2nd / 11th & 3rd / 12th HOLES
Do not approach the 2nd / 11th Green whilst the 3rd / 12th Tee-Box is in use or occupied.
Do not approach or occupy the 3rd / 12th Tee-Box until it is safe and clear to take your tee shot. Do not play if the 2nd / 11th Green is occupied.
GREENKEEPING WORKS
The Green keeping Staff and all works have right of way on the Course – Players must not interfere with or obstruct any work in progress. In particular, any interference with the Watering and Sprinkler System on any part of the Course is prohibited.
COURSE ETIQUETTE (Rule 33.7)
No play shall commence without first reserving a time on the Official Starting Sheet for the day.
All play should commence on the 1st or 10th Tee-Box – unless otherwise directed by the Committee.
Please observe the Tynedale Golf Club Dress Code at all times on the Course.
Please respect the Course and observe the Rules of Golf, in particular Section One.
Please repair your pitch and spike marks and replace your divots.
Please rake Bunkers after use and avoid damage to steep Bunker faces.
Please avoid slow play at all times.
Please show consideration to other golfers and public at all times.
Please keep the Course tidy and remove your litter.
No more than FOUR players in any group at any time will be permitted.
No sharing of clubs – each player must commence their round with their own clubs and bag.
Do not take trolleys or golf bags on to the Greens. Do not take trolleys onto or over Tee-Boxes.
ALL GOLFERS SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN THIRD PARTY INSURANCE – TYNEDALE GOLF CLUB ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE OR INJURY, HOWEVER CAUSED DUE TO THE PLAYING OF GOLF ON THIS COURSE
